Individual Sessions

This can be an initial assessment either as an informal assessment when no standardised assessments or tests are carried out, or with these formal tests included.  However, your child will be encouraged to take part in various activities so that the therapist can gain insight into their therapy needs and suggestions may be made towards the way forward. This may be a full assessment, referral to another therapist (ie. Physiotherapist or Cranial Osteopath) or attendance at a group or a school visit. You will be encouraged to share your concerns for your child, how you see their difficulties impacting on their daily life, also depending on the age of your child they will also be encouraged to talk about the areas of their life that they feel they want to improve or would like to change.

Individual Therapy Sessions
These would be on a one-to-one basis with the Physiotherapist or Occupational Therapist depending on the results of the initial assessment. Alternatively both therapists may be involved in the session.
From the results a treatment plan would be discussed and activities carried out that are difficult for inclusion in a home programme to target the areas highlighted by the assessment. Using various equipment, activities and games the therapist would then work towards improving the areas of difficulty. Attendance varys from weekly to once a month with a home programme, which ever is the most appropriate for the child.
